Unikátní výstava ve Sládečkově vlastivědném muzeu v Kladně představuje malířskou a ilustrátorskou tvorbu Jaroslava Velce. Na podzim muzeum uvede vůbec první samostatnou výstavu v takovém rozsahu věnovanou ikonickému ilustrátorovi Jaroslavu Velcovi (nar. 29. 8. 1946 v Kladně), jehož precizní malby letadel a technické kresby znají generace čtenářů, modelářů i milovníků letectví. Součástí doprovodného programu k výstavě budou také komentované prohlídky přímo s autorem.
Výstava nabídne průřez více než padesátiletou tvorbou autora, který svou prací překonal hranice bývalého Československa a proslavil se jako výtvarník obalových ilustrací (tzv. box artů) plastikových modelů pro firmy jako Kovozávody Prostějov, Revell, Matchbox či Monogram. Je autorem stovek box artů, ilustrací, obálek knih i časopisů a mimo jiné i vědeckých kreseb brouků. Výstava je rozdělena na několik částí, které představují vyobrazení různých druhů a tvarů letadel z různých historických období.
Jedním z těžišť výstavy jsou obrazy letadel československých pilotů. Velc je zachycuje s věcnou přesností i citem pro drama a osobní osudy. V jeho dílech ožívají historické momenty jako bitva o Británii, přelet Lamanšského průlivu nebo Slovenské národní povstání, nikoli jako statické ilustrace, ale také jako výjevy nabité atmosférou.
Skrze letecké ilustrace i skrze to, co se děje na pozadí mnoha jimi zachycených historických momentů, návštěvník pozná svět očima výrazné osobnosti, jakou je Jaroslav Velc. Prostřednictvím leteckých ilustrací i dějů skrytých v historických momentech se otevírá pohled do světa Jaroslava Velce.
A unique exhibition at the Sládeček Museum of Local History in Kladno presents the painting and illustration work of Jaroslav Velec. In the autumn, the museum will present the first ever solo exhibition of such a scale dedicated to the iconic illustrator Jaroslav Velec (born 29 August 1946 in Kladno), whose precise paintings of aircraft and technical drawings are known to generations of readers, modelers and aviation enthusiasts. The accompanying program to the exhibition will also include guided tours directly with the author.
The exhibition will offer a cross-section of more than fifty years of work by the author, who with his work has overcome the borders of the former Czechoslovakia and has become famous as an artist of packaging illustrations (so-called box art) of plastic models for companies such as Kovozávody Prostějov, Revell, Matchbox and Monogram. He is the author of hundreds of box art, illustrations, book and magazine covers and, among other things, scientific drawings of beetles. The exhibition is divided into several parts, which present depictions of various types and shapes of aircraft from different historical periods.
One of the focal points of the exhibition are the images of aircraft by Czechoslovak pilots. Velc captures them with factual accuracy and a sense of drama and personal destinies. In his works, historical moments such as the Battle of Britain, the crossing of the English Channel or the Slovak National Uprising come to life, not as static illustrations, but also as scenes full of atmosphere.
Through the aerial illustrations and through what is happening in the background of many historical moments captured by them, the visitor gets to know the world through the eyes of a distinctive personality such as Jaroslav Velc. Through the aerial illustrations and the events hidden in historical moments, a view into the world of Jaroslav Velc opens.
